ABOUT LARA HOLMES

I believe healing is rarely about becoming someone new.

More often, it is a process of coming home to ourselves – beneath the stress, protective patterns, old wounds, and ways we’ve learned to survive.

For more than 20 years, I have explored the relationship between the body, trauma, mindfulness, movement, attachment, and healing. What began as a personal search eventually became a lifelong path of study, clinical training, and deep curiosity about what helps people reconnect with themselves.

Today, I integrate somatic psychotherapy, nervous system regulation, embodiment practices, and IFS-informed approaches to help clients move beyond insight alone and create lasting change.

Over time, this work evolved into what I now call The Body Speaks Method – a body-centered approach that helps people listen more deeply to themselves, access greater ease and resilience, and cultivate a more authentic relationship with who they are.

Because healing is not about fixing ourselves.

It is about remembering, reclaiming, and returning to what has been there all along.

The Body Speaks.
Healing begins when we learn to listen.

The relief is worth the risk.

You’ve likely come here because thinking about therapy feels like both a relief and a risk – relief that you’re ready for change, and risk because the work touches what’s been held in your body for a long time.

Somatic therapy offers a different doorway: it helps you feel your experience safely, track how stress and trauma live in posture, breath, and sensation, and learn new, sustainable ways to regulate.

For many people, this work feels like coming home to yourself slowly, embodied, and in ways talk alone can’t reach. It can also be powerfully transformative: releasing held tension, unburdening old patterns, and wiring the nervous system so you move through life with more ease, resilience, and choice.

If you’ve been waiting for permission to slow down, to notice your edges, or to stop pushing past what feels hard, somatic therapy meets you there. It’s a practice of listening to the nervous system, learning its language, and building capacity to live with more presence. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Curiosity, safety, and a willingness to feel differently are what matter.

All sessions are offered virtually, and this work is done without physical touch.

My approach is integrative.

I use trauma‑informed somatic therapy with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and intuitive, spiritually grounded awareness.

Using IFS alongside somatic methods lets us compassionately map the different parts of your inner system. At the same time, the body tracks what’s alive in the moment – supporting deep unburdening and neural wiring so insights translate into lasting, embodied change.

Shifts often show up in how you breathe, move, relate, and tend yourself day to day.

I work relationally and at the pace of the nervous system, guided by the body’s innate intelligence rather than force or fixing. I don’t believe in bypassing difficulty; instead, I help you meet what’s present with safety, honesty, and care so new choices can organically emerge.

It’s time to take the risk.

Let’s work together to meet what’s been difficult with care and support. Relief is a phone call or email away.

About Lara Holmes
Somatic Psychotherapist · Somatic Coach · Therapist Mentor
MA, LCMHC

My work is rooted in the understanding that lasting change begins in the nervous system.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable adults who have spent years holding a great deal – professionally, relationally, and internally. Often, they understand their patterns intellectually, yet still find themselves living with chronic tension, over-responsibility, emotional holding, or nervous system patterns that no longer feel sustainable.

I specialize in depth-oriented somatic psychotherapy and somatic coaching designed to support change at the level of the body, nervous system, and protective patterns – not just insight alone.

My approach integrates somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness, parts-informed work, embodiment practices, nervous system regulation, and relational repair into what I now refer to as The Body Speaks Method – an evolving framework that supports deeper regulation, self-connection, and lasting change.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Vermont with over 20 years of experience in somatic and body-based approaches. I’m also a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT).

My own long-term healing journey, contemplative practices, and experience as a wife, mother, and stepmother continue to shape the way I understand pacing, presence, nervous system repair, and relational life.

Outside of sessions, I value family, nature, movement, reflection, and the practices that help me stay grounded, present, and connected to what matters most.
